Technical Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experienced with Windows and Mac OS X environments.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting basic software/hardware issues such as software installation, new PC setup, etc.
  • Comfortable working with networks and basic understanding of network protocols including IP, DHCP, SMB, etc.
  • Willing to take part in website development and maintenance.
  • HTML/CSS knowledge is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with Adobe CC is a plus, but not required.

Other qualifications:

-    Hours:

  • New team members must be able to commit between 15-29.5 hours per week during the summer
  • During the fall and spring semesters, team members would be expected to work between 10-15 hours per week
    • Schedules are created around your class and personal schedules and are set for the semester
    • Finals week scheduled are created separately and are based on your finals schedule
  • Must be a student at the University of Wisconsin – Madison
  • Minimum time commitment of three semesters (summer counts as one semester)
  • Work study not required, but appreciated
  • Training will begin in late April, and work will start during the summer.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Position Purpose:

Tech Purpose: All team members are responsible for handling daily operations and activities within a fast-paced environment, which include customer service, completing print orders, interacting with a broad customer base and taking part in team or individual projects. These projects are based on your interests and could include marketing, product research, evaluating financial aspects, management, inventory, cost analysis, or updating technology and software. Team members at StudentPrint gain lifetime knowledge, experiences and friends.

We are currently seeking one candidate who, in addition to the mentioned qualifications, has interest and skills in the technology aspects of a student-run business. Technology specialists are responsible for not only maintaining existing equipment but also exploring new technology solutions that may benefit the business and the team as a whole.

This includes working with a diverse network of workstations, production printers and servers. Technology specialists also maintain our day-to-day software such as Adobe CC and QuickBooks.


New team members will be expected to learn to use the following equipment and software.  Previous knowledge of the following are appreciated, but not required. In addition, technology specialists will be tasked with additional responsibilities.


  • Production printers
  • Large format printer
  • Fax machine
  • Point of sale equipment
  • Lamination machine
  • Cutting machine
  • Binding machines


  • Adobe CC (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Windows 10 & Mac OS X Operating Systems
  • Intuit Quickbooks & Point Of Sale
  • EFI Fiery Command Workstation


  • Explore technology solutions that could benefit the team/business.
  • Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Maintain the working status of all equipment.
  • Work with DoIT to report and address issues
