Department Overview:

Madison Boats offers summer fun at three locations in Madison. Wingra Boats, Brittingham Boats, and Marshall Boats. We've also partnered with the Edgewater to offer Captained pontoon trips. Our seasonal staff mission is to connect people to eachother and to the outdoors through outdoor recreation and education. Position Summary/Job Duties:

We are currently taking applications for Pontoon Captains as we build our awesome team at Marshall Boats for Summer 2025 at the Edgewater. Submit your application today!

As part of the Madison Boats Captains team you will be responsible for many tasks. While at Marshall Boats, these include helping our customers find the right paddling equipment and launching their boats, assisting with keeping the boathouse properties clean and in good shape for our customers and community members, serving basic concession style food, and operating the POS (point of sale) system, and much more. Additionally, for our captains, working shifts at the Edgewater entails driving pontoon boats in a variety of conditions while also catering to guest needs. We are looking for those comfortable stepping into a leadership role. There will also be opportunities to assist with planning and running our many events held throughout the summer.​

Expectations: In this role you are expected to work closely with the management team of your boat house to ensure smooth daily operations and stellar special events. You will be expected to perform every aspect of the job ranging from normal, team-based crew duties to independently leading shifts of fellow team members.

  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience

  • Reliable and punctual

  • Comfortable interacting with people

  • Enjoy being around water

  • Pontoon/motor boat driving experience

  • Ability to accept supervision and guidance

  • Ability to supervise and guide a team of peers 

  • Willingness to learn how to use the variety of boats and improve your watercraft skills

  • Must have open availability during the summer

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 60+lbs
