Department Overview:

Leaders Igniting Transformation (LIT) is a youth of color-led independent nonprofit. Founded in 2017, LIT builds leadership skills through engaging in values-based issues and electoral organizing, direct action, and advocacy for public policy. We organize young people in UW-system campuses communities to build independent political power for social, racial and economic justice.

Schedule:

  • 1.5 hours - Statewide Training 
  • 1 hour - Check-in with supervisor 
  • 1.5 hours - Chapter meetings and Eboard meetings 
  • 4-6 hours: Fieldwork (tabling, street teaming, recruiting members, hosting events, and more)

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $18.00 to $18.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Leaders Igniting Transformation is seeking dynamic, inspiring part-time College Fellows to support the development of LIT chapters on campuses, year-round civic engagement of college students, and movement building through our various campaigns and issue focuses statewide across Wisconsin.

Qualifications:

  • Must commit to working 8-10 hours a week.
  • Must be enrolled at a UW system school full-time (UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, or UW-Whitewater).
  • Must be a driven, self-starter capable of handling multiple projects at a time.
  • Must have a commitment to building the leadership capacity of Black & Brown youth.
  • Must have a commitment to learning and being in a community with people from various racial & ethnic, gender, sexual, economic, and immigration status backgrounds.
  • Must be willing to serve as a representative of LIT on their college campus.
  • Must be willing to attend in-person events, tabling shifts, meetings, and other commitments related to the position. 
  • Must have access to reliable WiFi and be able to attend virtual meetings and be on camera.
