SOAR Peer Advisors summary: School of Education (SoE) SOAR Peer Advisors work collaboratively with School of Education professional advisors to assist incoming freshmen and transfer students new to UW-Madison at SOAR (Student Orientation and Registration). SOAR Peer Advisors spend the majority of their time working in-person, one-on-one and in small groups with incoming freshman students interested in School of Education majors and degree programs. SOAR Peer Advisors will also be leading virtual welcome sessions and assisting transfer and international students virtually with course enrollment.
SOAR Peer Advisors can gain skills in problem solving, communication, public speaking, and leadership. They are committed to helping new students explore academic and extra-curricular opportunities and possess a willingness to learn. No prior experiences necessary; training on both academic content and advising skills will be provided.
