Department Overview:
UW-Madison's Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is the center of campus IT operations. DoIT's 700 staff provide IT services and support to over 2000 faculty, 16,000 campus staff, and 43,000 students. Working closely with User Services, Systems Engineering and Operations - Specialized Infrastructure Management Services (SEO-SIMS) installs, supports, monitors and maintains infrastructure that hosts line-of-business systems for customers as well as the systems themselves.

7:45 - 5:00 M-F, flexible. Work is 99% remote, however on occasion some tasks require on-site presence.

Enrolled as a student in the greater Madison area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Required: - Knowledge and Experience in Microsoft Operating Systems and Services. - Experience supporting/assisting others with information technology related issues. - Excellent communication skills. - Attention to detail. Preferred: - Prior experience working in a technology support environment. - Knowledge and experience in PowerShell and PHP Scripting.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
This position works closely with our full time Systems Engineering Team to help troubleshoot cases that have been escalated from the Help Desk team. Will act in conjunction with team staff to triage tickets as they are received. Will perform basic Active Directory tasks and systems monitoring under the direction of the Team Lead. Will assist with PowerShell and PHP scripting tasks as requested by team members. Duties & Responsibilities - Handle and resolve customer problems with the assistance of senior staff - Perform basic Active Directory maintenance tasks. - Perform basic system health monitoring. - Assist full time Systems Engineering staff with the maintenance, configuration and troubleshooting of system hardware, software, and related services. - Perform physical inventory tasks for system hardware and server systems. - Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell and/or PHP with the assistance of senior staff.
