Work schedule is dependent on individual's class schedule and availability. Within normal business hours, 9-5.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to learn applicable techniques
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a group to complete assigned tasks
Previous lab experience preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must be capable of performing repetitive and monotonous tasks with accuracy
Interest in horticulture, agronomy, or plant breeding and willingness to learn new tasks

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position is with the USDA Cranberry Molecular Physiology Lab and will primarily support research with cranberry physiology measurements and tissue cultures. This position will also support field research throughout the growing season.
Cranberry sugar and acid measurements.
Preparation of media and stock solutions based on established protocols.
Plant DNA extraction based on established protocols.
Greenhouse and field works occasionally.
Inspect and maintain equipment, inventory, supplies and facility spaces.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time
Willingness to work with soil and plant samples in uncontrollable field conditions.
