Department Overview:

Accounting Services within the Division of Business Services provides financial services for the UW-Madison including the processing and reporting of accounting data. It provides these services for 40 colleges and divisions and approximately 438 departments. In FY22 $3.5 billion of expenditures were posted. Schedule:

Flexible scheduling around classes and other activities. Work will be performed during standard business hours, M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$12.50-$19.00

Qualifications:

• Business-related major required (accounting major preferred)
• Sophomore looking for long-term employment
• Must demonstrate professionalism and accountability
• Maintain a strong campus focus, be responsive to campus requests, and develop/maintain productive working relationships with campus personnel
• Contribute ideas/opinions and listen/respond to the views of others
• Must demonstrate integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and enthusiasm in the performance of responsibilities
• A criminal background check will be conducted prior to hiring

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Excel, word processing, and presentation applications
• Ability to use technology to continually learn, communicate with team members, and enhance service delivery

Position Summary/Job Duties:

• Work with Cash Management staff to perform day-to-day duties of the unit
• Prepare campus check deposit journals/transactions
• Electronically deposit checks
• Prepare campus revenue transfers
• Process refunds of receipts forms
• Provide support for the accountant who oversees the Custodian Funds
• Work with Cash Management team members to enhance internal procedure documents
