Department Overview:

A leader in clean energy research, the Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) is led by scientists and engineers committed to crossing traditional research boundaries and making major breakthroughs. WEI works closely with industry leaders to ensure that its technologies strengthen Wisconsin's economy and improve the health and wellbeing of its citizens.

The Wisconsin Energy Institute is the primary home of the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC). One of three bioenergy research centers established by the U.S. Department of Energy in 2007, GLBRC is led by the University of Wisconsin - Madison. With more than 400 scientists, students, and staff representing a wide array of scientific disciplines, GLBRC's mission is to perform the basic research required to convert cellulosic biomass to advanced biofuels. GLBRC conducts highly-collaborative research on biofuels and bioproducts and partners with over 275 institutions spanning 28 countries and 43 US states.

Qualifications:

• Exceptional customer service attitude demonstrated by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with all faculty, staff, scientists and students
• Attention to detail and follow-through. Organization and problem-solving skills
• English language. Excellent documentation and communication skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience with support for Windows and Mac user desktops or laptops
• Knowledge of installing and configuring computer hardware and software

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The main responsibility of the Helpdesk Support Student Help will be to provide first line user support in computer matters for WEI/GLBRC staff in both on and off-campus positions. The successful candidate will possess exemplary soft skills to match their technical skills.
