Department Overview:
The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion provides leadership to faculty, staff, and students in developing and implementing strategic initiatives that promote the School of Education and UW–Madison’s mission for diversity, equity, and inclusion. CAPE is housed in the School of Education’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (OEDI).

Schedule:
Peer Advisors work 40 hours per week. The position requires full commitment to the summer program from June 8- June 28 and, including nights and weekends. No other large commitments should be scheduled during the employment period. Peer Advisors move into the residence hall on June 8th. Training for this position will occur from June 9 -13, both in person & remotely. The program date is June 15-28.

-Must be enrolled an undergraduate student enrolled at a university -By the start of employment, a Peer Advisor must: -Have completed at least two semesters of college at the start of the position -Be in good standing with the university: the student may not be on university probation for academic or non-academic reasons Please include a resume, a cover letter, and three references in your application.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Seeking applicants with 1. academic interests in either Education, Health or Performing Arts preferred but not required 2. a strong desire to support people from diverse backgrounds and mentor high school students interested in attending UW-Madison Valid driver’s license to operate UW fleet vehicles is preferred but not required.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Position Description: The UW–Madison School of Education is home to a wide range of undergraduate majors for students pursuing careers in education, the arts, and health professions. The College Access Program in Education (CAPE) is a 2-week summer collegiate experience for rising high school seniors interested in academic majors/fields within the School of Education. CAPE participants live the college experience as they reside on the UW–Madison campus and take a 2-credit course taught by faculty and staff in the School of Education. Much like a first-year college student at UW–Madison, CAPE participants engage in coursework that explores their academic and career interests. CAPE is participants include high school students from groups traditionally underrepresented in education, this includes individuals who are the first in their family to attend college and those who identify as part of a historically underrepresented group, or those from a low-income background. For more information about CAPE, visit website at go.wisc.edu/cape. Peer Advisors will support a group of CAPE students (up to 10) who are rising high school seniors. Peer Advisors supervise and support student participation in CAPE summer activities and events. Break times will be provided. Peer Advisors reside in the residence hall with CAPE participants to support students’ transition to summer college life, maintain community standards, and ensure compliance with the program and university youth policies. Meal plan and lodging are included with this position. Responsibilities: -Reside in Bradley Hall during the program from June 8-28, 2025. Meals are provided -Complete all training required by the UW–Madison Office of Youth Protection. -Mentor a roster of 10 CAPE high school students and support CAPE students’ transition into summer college life -Attend and actively participate in regular staff meetings -Facilitate daily meetings with students and host programming that promotes diversity & inclusion -Serve as a resource to refer students to University Health Services (UHS) and other services on campus as needed -Supervise CAPE participants as they travel to classes, meals, residence hall, and events -Collaborate with CAPE residential team to establish inclusive, respectful, and caring communities that contribute to academic success -Report misconduct to CAPE leadership staff For more information on the program visit the CAPE website at go.wisc.edu/cape.
