Department Overview:
The UW Space Science and Engineering Center, which houses the AOSS Library, is a multi-discipline research and development organization that focuses primarily on climate, weather, atmospheric, and space related research. Funding sources include NASA, NOAA, NSF, DOE, and private industry, with an aggregate annual budget of about $30 million. Our projects include observation, analysis and application of the data collected by our instruments in Antarctica, on satellites, aircrafts, ships and land based installations. This information is made available to the scientific community worldwide and helps to enhance our understanding of Earth and the solar system beyond.

Qualifications:
- Accepted and/or enrolled in the Library and Information Studies graduate program at UW-Madison - Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree by time of start date - Interest in a specialized/academic library career path - Prior experience working with library services and resources OR enrollment in library science coursework
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Desire to learn library skills - Basic customer service knowledge and abilities - Ability to perform self-directed, -supported, and -motivated work - Strong interpersonal skills; verbal and written communication skills
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The candidate will be involved in the planning and execution of various library projects, events, and programming. Projects may be chosen based on the interests of the candidate. This position will also assist in supporting the day-to-day functions of the AOSS Library; including, but not limited to: circulation services, reference assistance, and collection maintenance. The candidate may be required to supervise, close, or open the AOSS Library alone at times.
