Department Overview:

The Data Science Hub in the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (https://wid.wisc.edu/) collaborates closely with the Data Science Institute (https://datascience.wisc.edu/institute) to provide data science training and implement data science into research practices across campus. The Data Science Hub (https://datascience.wisc.edu/hub/) executes a mission for community engagement and learning opportunities for campus researchers through a variety of services, including:

- consultations with Data Science Facilitators who can recommend learning pathways and project strategies, and liaise contacts with collaborators and data science experts
- community events and co-sponsored seminars that bring together researchers and other partners around relevant data science topics
- regular trainings (including Carpentries workshops: https://datascience.wisc.edu/uw-madison-carpentries-community/) around fundamental data science and computational skills

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Qualifications:

The student should:

-Be dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and accurate
-Be able to multitask and prioritize projects
-Be willing to learn new skills
-Work well independently as well as in a team environment
-Maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Familiarity with one or more of G-Suite, Eloqua, GitHub, Eventbrite, Wordpress, or similar tools is preferred, but can also be taught.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

-Update and maintain newsletter, website, and calendar
-Help with program reporting
-Assist with market research and creating promotional materials
-Assist with data management
-Prepare mailings
-Assist with special events
-Help schedule meetings/events
-Copy and scan
-Run errands on campus
-Other office tasks as assigned

Physical Demands:

The physical demands include being able to use a computer to work on assigned tasks.
