Department Overview:

Madison's Central BID works to create a welcoming environment in the Downtown area to encourage residents, visitors, and workers to enjoy the State St., Capitol Square, and King St. areas.

Our areas of work include visitor relations, events, marketing and social media, physical enhancements, and advocacy.

Schedule:

  • Ambasssador Visitor Center and Info Booth are open 11am-5pm daily.  Schedule will be determined by availability. (12-20 hours weekly) (Currently Tuesday-Thursday availability needed)
  • Flexible delivery hours to area businesses between 11am-6pm Sun-Fri (up to 6 hours weekly)
  • Event help as needed.  Typicaly days needed are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and occasional weekends. 

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $13.00 to $13.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This is a great opportunity for someone who is outgoing, likes to help people, enjoys the outdoors, and wants to get involved in what’s going on downtown. It’s also a great way to gain experience in customer service, event coordination and public relations. Perfect for college students and/or retirees.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Staff downtown visitor center on State Street and/or info booth on the Capitol Square and downtown info tables at special events throughout the year.
  • Serve as uniformed “concierges,” providing a primary source of information and directions for downtown patrons, both visitors and residents.
  • Create positive downtown experiences through excellent customer service and hospitality.
  • Interact with downtown businesses under the direction of the BID by delivering event information, posters, and Downtown Madison Map & Guides.
  • Encourage Downtown visitors and residents to patronize district businesses, museums and cultural organizations.
  • Additional hours available for event assistance.  Help setup and operate events such as the Madison Night Market, Lunchtime Live Concerts, seasonal events, and more.

Qualifications:

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Excellent customer service and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to be an on-time; dependable self-starter; work independently. 
  • Available weekdays and weekends.
  • An interest in downtown Madison.
  • A strong positive attitude.

Physical Demands

May involve moving some equipment for events such as tables, chairs, etc. Light lifting of brochure boxes, etc.
