Department Overview:

Catalyst is a pediatric personal care and respite agency licensed by the state of Wisconsin. Our clients are children and adolescents who have significant or cognitive disabilities. All our young clients live at home with their families in and around Dane County.

Working with Catalyst families offers valuable experience for people who plan a future working in the fields of health care, education or social work.

Clinical experience is often necessary to apply for admission to these fields. Catalyst will provide individualized references and documentation of the time you spend with our families.

15-30 more during the summer if interested

Schedule:

15-30 hours/week. Schedules are flexible and are arranged directly with families depending upon your availability and their needs

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $18.00 to $18.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Every young client has different needs, not all of them physical. Duties may include:

Transfers into and out of wheelchair and bed

Assistance with ambulation as needed

Meal preparation and help with eating, toothbrushing reminders,

Accompany to community outings, to a park, to a medical appointment along with the parent.

Document cares provided on the appropriate paperwork

Use of the Sandata app to record arrival and departure times during each shift. This is an Electronic Visit Verification system required by the Federal government for all caregivers who provide care in clients’ homes.

Qualifications:

Families need stable and consistent care provided by mature and responsible people.

Any relevant caregiving experience will be considered:

Experience with a family member who has medical needs is valuable.

Certification as a nursing assistant is valued but not necessary.

Maturity, gentleness and attention to detail is required.

Ability to communicate effectively with the Catalyst supervisory nurse and client parents is crucial.
