  • Hourly position are available to those who do not obtain a PA position.

  • Be accepted into a graduate degree program at UW-Madison. Certain restrictions may apply based on your program though we can help guide you. 
  • Have experience with design and prototyping and a bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. engineering, art, industrial design). 
  • Demonstrable skills (portfolio, website, project examples, etc.) in their technology/fabrication area. See below for areas.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 A qualified applicant will have working knowledge of fabrication spaces and be:

  • Service Orientated
  • Student Focused
  • Comfortable with hand-on making
  • Comfortable working in an active environment
  • Safety Conscious

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position will assist with:

  • Daily operations in the Makerspace
  • Communicating policies and procedures
  • Mentoring undergraduate Makerspace staff
  • Supporting project based freshman and pre-college engineering courses/programs
  • Providing hands-on guidance in one or more of the following technology/fabrication/instruction areas:
    • 3D Printing, 3D Modeling and 3D Scanning
    • Electronics and Micro-controllers
    • Digital and Analog Fabrication (laser cutter, CNC router, table saw, sewing machines, etc.)
    • Augmented / Virtual Reality / Drones 

Physical Demands:

Depending on the technology area this position may require:

  • Lifting more than 40 lbs.
  • Standing to operate equipment.
