Department Overview:

The UW-Madison School of Music Facilities Office is hiring current UW-Madison students to work as Stage Crew.  The School of Music has three performance halls and 13 rehearsal and instructional spaces, hosting approximately 1,000 performances, rehearsals, masterclasses, and other events each year.

Remote Work Eligibility Detail:

This is a 100% on-site position.

 

Remote work for any UW-Madison Student Employee role must be completed within the United States. International telecommuting is not permitted.

Anticipated Hours Per Week:

Quantity of shifts varies. Stage Crew usually only work a few hours a week at the beginning of the semester, but can expect to work between 10 and 20 hours a week later in the academic term.

Schedule:

Schedule is variable depending on performance schedule, and shift duration varies from 1 hour to 8 hours. Some rehearsals are during the day, performances are mostly evenings and weekends.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$10.00/hour

6-10

Qualifications:

Applicants must have an excellent work ethic, a positive attitude, and a good rapport with facility users. Experience in musical venues, either onstage or backstage, is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Position Summary/Job Duties:

School of Music Stage Crew facilitate logistics and back-of-house duties for all performances and large-scale events in these spaces. Primary responsibilities include coordinating access to facilities, setting and resetting onstage equipment, operating lighting & audio systems, and any other logistical needs that the performers may have.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift and move furnishings & equipment such as chairs, stands, and platforms.
