Department Overview:

The Multicultural Student Center (MSC), located in the Red Gym, provides support, advocacy, and co-curricular experiences that center, affirm, and celebrate the diverse and intersectional identities of students of color. Our spaces, programs and services are designed to cultivate a sense of belonging and community while strengthening all students’ capacity to learn, lead and thrive.

Bi-weekly 1:1 with supervisor (1 hour)
Bi-weekly communications team meeting (1 hour)
Bi-weekly all-intern meeting (1.5 hours)

Qualifications:

2.0 Cumulative G.P.A. Required for Hire
Must be an undergraduate
Written/verbal communications skills;
Experience with social media and technology (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and more)
Experience creating meaningful and engaging social media presence for event promotion and community building
Familiarity with creating newsletter content and using marketing automation platforms
Familiarity with video editing software and technology
Experience with desktop publishing skills (proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
Portfolio with examples of creative designs and previous posters or promotional materials
Excellent customer service skills
Be able to work independently with strict deadlines

Proven track record of social media usage and strategy
Proven track record of graphic design, editing, and ideas
Proven track record of website and newsletter work

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Conceptualize and develop marketing and communication materials for programs, events, and general services, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and brand guidelines.
Produce engaging and visually appealing content such as flyers, social media images, videos, newsletters, and other virtual communication materials to effectively promote MSC initiatives and activities across diverse platforms and audiences.
Assist in the formulation and execution of social media strategies, contributing innovative ideas and insights to enhance online presence, engagement, and community outreach efforts, while staying abreast of emerging trends and best practices.
Coordinate closely with team members to plan and implement comprehensive social media campaigns, including content scheduling, audience engagement, performance tracking, and post-campaign analysis, to optimize effectiveness and drive desired outcomes.
