The position is in the Sperandio Lab, located in the microbial science building (Department of medical microbiology and immunology) https://sperandiolab.mii.wisc.edu

Schedule:

8AM to 5PM, Monday to Friday. Options for flexible timing. Candidates should be able to work 2+ shifts per week, and put in 3-4 hours per shift

Qualifications:

Current life science undergraduate student

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Successful candidates must be efficient, have excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written), and possess the ability to work independently and as a member of a team (e.g., prioritize tasks, coordinate work with others).
In addition, successful candidates will have some previous experience with microbiology laboratory work (e.g., aseptic technique,
preparing solutions, etc.). Experience with these techniques from laboratory classes is okay. Please describe your degree of experience when you submit your application.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Glassware washing and autoclaving general lab materials (e.g., tubes, tips, bacterial growth media)
- Autoclaving and disposing of biohazard trash
- Operate, clean, and maintain organization of research equipment and research area
- Track inventory levels and place replenishment orders
- Receive laboratory orders, breaking down and disposing of empty cardboard boxes
- Restocking lab supplies (e.g., tubes, tips, bacterial growth media, paper towels, distilled water)

Lifting, standing, bending, moving, carrying
