Schedule:
Very flexible. The Keck Lab allows student hourlies to distribute their hours throughout the week in 2-4 day increments, depending on their schedule. Time of day is typically up to the employee, but needs to be within business hours (8AM-5PM). Time can also be taken off for exams and other academic circumstances whenever needed, as long as appropriate notice is given.

Qualifications:
The candidate must be student with at least one full year of school remaining, and would preferably be available over winter/summer breaks.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
No previous knowledge of biochemistry/molecular biology/general lab techniques is expected (although highly favorable); we will provide training as needed. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and display independence regarding their duties.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Typical responsibilities will include making reagents for biochemistry and molecular biology experiments, including pouring media plates, preparing media for culturing bacteria, cleaning and sterilizing lab equipment, preparing supplies for laboratory use (e.g. filling tips, autoclaving disposables, etc.), and general lab cleanup. It should be noted that this is not a formal research position, although several skills learned through this position can be transferred to research roles.
Physical Demands:
The student would occasionally lift 10lbs and work with chemicals (acids, bases, carcinogens) under a safe laboratory environment.
