|
The Precollege Programming unit in the Division of Continuing Studies is looking for individuals interested in working with middle and high school students as Residential Assistants for Badger Summer Scholars (BSS), the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP), Wisconsin International Precollege Academy (WIPA) and the Summer Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP). Our programs provide opportunities for students to immerse themselves in campus life and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and challenging learning environment. The classes are designed to challenge students beyond their current limits and expose them to life on a university campus. When not in class, students participate in a number of field trips, activities, and adventures that allow them to build lifelong friendships and get to know the UW-Madison campus.
This role offers more than just summer employment—it’s an opportunity to grow personally and professionally. You will strengthen leadership skills by guiding diverse groups of students, sharpen critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities in dynamic situations, and develop organizational and time‑management skills while balancing multiple responsibilities. You’ll also enhance communication and teamwork skills through collaboration with peers and staff. We welcome applicants who are open to working in multiple programs, however, program placement can depend upon student enrollment.
Residential Assistants live in the UW campus residence hall with the students and other RAs during the program. They are responsible for supervising students and planning non-academic activities. Residential Assistants help create a dynamic, supportive community where students feel safe, engaged, and inspired. They lead fun activities, build connections, and ensure student well‑being by upholding safety and program standards.
