Department Overview:
The College of Letters & Science (L&S) provides a liberal arts education that is both broad and deep through excellent, empathic teaching. Our goal is to create a positive learning environment that is stimulating and productive. L&S is proud of the intellectual virtues that are hallmarks of L&S faculty, staff and students. The photography will be responsible for capturing images and some video for L&S specific projects to represent L&S culture, events, news student experiences, and more that will be used to promote L&S along with telling its stories. The position will offer opportunities to gain communications and marketing experience at a University Administrative level.

Schedule:
Schedule varies with flexible hours including school day, nights and some weekends depending on content and College events. Includes a bi-weekly half hour in-person status meeting with supervisor.

Qualifications:
A successful candidate must demonstrate excellent photography skills. The candidate must have strong photo editing skills using various software; an ability to work well in a team; have a creative mindset and an interest in learning more about the L&S environment. Is currently enrolled at UW-Madison.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Proven professional shooting experience - A keen eye for photography - Proficient experience with photography equipment - Solid knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom or other photography/video editing specific software - Competency in applying photographic best practices and techniques - Flexible schedule availability for weekend events and ability to juggle multiple tasks - Strong communication skills - A positive attitude and professional demeanor when working with a team and while photographing subjects
Position Summary/Job Duties:
- Capturing and processing images until desired results are achieved for various platforms (editorial, digital and social) - Minor photo editing for best image quality and lighting - Take photos of student life activities - Continue to develop the College’s photo library - Organize and catalog images for future use and to coordinate and manage image posts to social media - Assist with various design and video editing projects as needed - Arrange objects, scenes, lighting and background to adhere to specifications - Direct participants/photography subjects - Maintain an in depth understanding of photographic best practices and procedures - Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
Carry camera and photo equipment, as needed.
