Department Overview:
The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of the UW-Madison campus in support of the university's education, research, and outreach activities. FP&M works behind the scenes to coordinate campus planning, manage design and construction, maintain and operate buildings and grounds, supply utility services, ensure health and safety, and provide parking and transportation services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Required: - Ability to think critically about data to identify trends and propose solutions for real-world operational challenges. - Strong attention to detail with data entry. - Basic understanding of data hierarchies. - Ability to use Microsoft Teams. Preferred: - Knowledge of databases, database structure, and SQL. - Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau or Power BI).
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Business Analytics Student Assistants will analyze datasets related to campus maintenance, utilities, and logistics. Beyond data entry and SQL querying, the student will be expected to critically evaluate data for accuracy and relevance to real-world problems. Primary duties include translating data insights into actionable reports and helping leadership make informed, data-driven decisions.
Physical Demands:
Use of PC computer/mouse/keyboard. Ability to work on-site. Standing/walking to campus sites, standing during presentations and meetings for up to 2-hour periods.
