Department Overview:
The Center for Limnology’s mission is to exemplify The Wisconsin Idea by providing new knowledge and information on aquatic ecosystems through research, education, outreach and public service; and to facilitate and support research and teaching based around facilities at the Hasler Laboratory of Limnology and Trout Lake Station.

Schedule:
Part-time, approximately 15-20 hours/week, between May-Sept 2026; Hours and days worked are somewhat flexible, but most work will be during normal business hours (M-F 8-5)

Qualifications:
• Boating experience (completion of Wisconsin Boater Safety Course will be required upon hire) • Ability to become a UW-Madison authorized driver (required)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills • Ability to self-motivate and work independently • Handy with tools and a willingness to be trained • Be willing to be flexible with job duties on a daily basis
Position Summary/Job Duties:
• Assisting a wide variety of researchers with their daily needs • may include assisting project leads with fieldwork or lab work as needed • Safe operation of UW–Madison boats and fleet vehicles • Launching and towing boats using a UW fleet vehicle • Light boat motor maintenance • Assist with field and lab equipment maintenance and troubleshooting • Help coordinate laboratory and facility general maintenance
Physical Demands:
Bending, kneeling, lifting, comfort around water, comfort working in all weather conditions.
