The UW-Madison Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Scholars Program) is a federally-funded TRIO program that prepares undergraduate students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in graduate education for Ph.D. studies. For the McNair Scholars Program, these groups include first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds and underrepresented students (Black, Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiians, and Native American Pacific.) The program offers scholars opportunities to conduct research, develop the necessary interpersonal, analytical, and test-taking skills for graduate study and successful completion of these students' doctoral degrees. Staff members are responsible for carrying-out McNair grant activities in keeping with federal, state, and UW-Madison regulations. The McNair Scholars Program is seeking a graduate program assistant (PA) to support McNair STEM-focused activities through the 2024-2025 year, including summer 2025. This position will work closely with the McNair Director to ensure the success of programming and scholarly activities for the McNair Scholars and begin preparations academic activities and events.
DDEEA - Challenger/BADGER Series – Graduate Project Assistantship Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement McNair Scholars Program $31.15 UW Student Assistant
The DDEEA and the McNair Scholars Program seek a graduate program assistant (PA) to support their new programs: The Challenger[1] and the BADGER[2] Series. These programs focus on preparing students for graduate education (professional degrees (e.g., master's degrees in healthcare and business administration or professional doctorate degrees, such as the M.D, J.D, or D.V.M), as well as research-based master's and Ph.D. programs.) This position will work closely with the McNair staff to ensure the success of programming and scholarly activities. [1] The Challenger Series aims to demystify graduate studies by introducing students to the prospect of graduate school. We geared this exploratory program towards 1st and 2nd-year students, especially first-generation college students or those underrepresented in graduate education. In collaboration with other campus resource programs, we provide students with information on pursuing faculty-mentor research positions, internships, and the exciting career options stemming from pursuing a graduate degree.
