Position Summary/Job Duties:

We Could Use Your Help This Summer!!!

We are looking for someone special to assist us with our daughter Laurel (LuLu) this summer with the ability to extend into the next school year if desired. We are looking for day or evening shifts 7 days a week. The hours are flexible as we have other students assisting as part of her team. Laurel is 15 years old and was diagnosed with Rett syndrome 13 years ago. Rett syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that primarily affects girls. Unfortunately, it has stripped Laurel of her ability to walk, talk, or have purposeful use of her hands. We have been working with exceptional UW undergrad and grad students from OT, PT, Nursing, Speech, and even Engineering for the past 10 years, and they have become part of our family! In addition, we regularly work with the Waisman Center as part of their LEND family mentor program. Laurel needs assistance with daily living activities such as feeding, bathing, and toileting. She loves to listen to music (Taylor Swift/Doja Cat big favs), and she likes to run errands and go for walks. This summer, we are looking for individuals during the day and/or evening. Day shifts would start around 8:30 until 4, and evening shifts would be from 4-8. We also have weekend shifts available from around 9 AM to 4 PM or evenings on the weekend from 4 PM to 8 PM. We are flexible with start and stop times and around exams and vacations. We currently have other UW students working with us, but we are looking to add more to the team! We also have one other daughter, who is 17, and having assistance with Laurel greatly enhances our ability to spend more time with her.  We have had a legacy of amazing students from the UW, and would love to add you to the team!  Summer bonus top of base pay available.  Meals and laundry included.  Hours count as direct care hours for those who need them.

Qualifications:

Looking for unique, fun, and flexible team members willing to join our family.  Must be able to ride the ups and downs of Laurel, be creative in finding fun things to do, be proficient in modern music, Taylor Swift, Doja Cat 15 and 17 year old female fashion, and just general craziness.

Physical Demands

There is lifting and reposition of Laurel. We can assist with this also.
