Department Overview:

Prairie Music & Arts is a 501(c)(3) community arts education organization offering multidisciplinary and holistic music, visual art, and theater experiences that build confidence and stretch creativity through shared artistic exploration. Since 1999, programs have served the Sun Prairie and greater Dane County, Wisconsin, area with high-quality and accessible artistic opportunities. Programs are offered at community sites throughout Sun Prairie. The GO-C.A.R.T. project is a partnership between Prairie Music & Arts and the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.

Schedule:

The GO-C.A.R.T. calendar will include over 30 park activity dates, with shifts ranging from 2 to 4 hours. Days of the week are variable. Most dates are M-F, but a few Saturday activities are scheduled over the summer.

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $18.00 to $25.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Prairie Music & Arts in Sun Prairie seeks creative teaching artists to join our team for the GO-C.A.R.T. (Community, Arts, Recreation, Trailer) summer 2024 project. GO-C.A.R.T. is a mobile arts and recreation trailer taking out-of-school enrichment opportunities to youth at Sun Prairie’s city parks. Teaching artists with a background in education, general music, dance, visual art, creative writing, and theater are invited to apply.

 

Qualifications:

Teaching artists will demonstrate a commitment to youth development, arts education, strong communication and collaborative skills, professional responsibility, and a belief in diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

A transportation stipend is not included, and access to reliable transportation is required.

 

Physical Demands

GO-C.A.R.T. teaching positions require standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 lbs to move art supplies, musical instruments, and equipment on and off the trailer.
