Schedule:

Hours:

  • 8-15 hours per week on average depending on time of year, including some evening/weekend hours.
  • Working up to 20 hours/week during peak times such as semester opening.
  • Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need.
  • Summer and break hours available based on operational need.

  • Move In Date: August 18, 2024 (If you are a resident of University Housing)
  • Start Date: August 19, 2024
  • Attend fall training dates: August 19-23, 2024.
  • Attend spring training dates: TBD January 2025
  • Note: Start date and training dates may change but will not be any earlier than the dates listed above.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

      * current opening is located in Open House Learning Community - Phillips Hall *

  • Develop and implement activities and events aligned with the focus of the learning community.
  • Manage a wide range of administrative tasks relating to all aspects of the learning community including student programming, recruitment, support of academic courses, campus collaboration and evaluation.
  • Assist in the learning community seminar; seek ways to integrate co-curricular activities and events with the seminar syllabus; may be expected to attend seminar on some occasions.
  • Foster leadership among the residents by involving them in event planning and promoting campus leadership development opportunities. Mentor student leader positions as assigned.
  • Be a visible role model to residents regarding academic engagement and inclusive behavior.
  • Develop and disseminate communication materials including flyers to promote activities, social media engagement, materials for prospective students and other strategies.
  • Utilize a variety of software systems as needed for event planning, communication, and assessment. Must be willing to learn and use new software.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Leadership Team members and other faculty, academic staff, House Fellows and student staff in the community. Regular communication and collaboration are essential to the success of this role.
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach activities and events for prospective students. May independently lead regular tours of the learning community.
  • Meet weekly with supervisor and attend additional meetings as assigned in addition to office hours.
  • Monitor assigned budget and strictly adhere to financial and purchasing guidelines.
  • Track a variety of deadlines, projects, and administrative duties with minimal oversight.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Preference may be given to applicants who are current or former residents of the learning community; all students are encouraged to apply.
  • During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
