Department Overview:

The mission of the Monroe Street Arts Center is to engage a community of learners in exploring the arts and developing the creative self.

 

Anticipated Hours Per Week

3 to 6

Schedule:

45 min classes take place weekday evenings and Saturdays at 9:00am and 10:00am [Training and observation of music together classes at MSAC will be required in June and July, Mon-Wednesday 9-11 am, and music together certification must be obtained before September 9, 2024]

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $23.00 to $23.00

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct Music Together classes to students age 0-5 and their caregivers
  • Provide input and follow MSAC’s teaching goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of MSAC.
  • Maintain communication with families and clearly communicate any class needs or expectations
  • Plan and conduct special events, workshops, and demonstrations as decided by the Center Director
  • Maintain a consistent schedule.
  • Contribute to the growth of MSAC’s programming.
  • Potential evening and weekend flexibility

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children.
  • Commitment to participate in MSAC special events.
  • Experience in teaching group music.
  • Excellent organization, communication and people skills.
  • Passion for working in arts education.
  • Commitment to teaching a diverse group of students.
  • Bachelor's degree in music education preferred, or 2 or more years of professional experience
  • Ability to demonstrate core competencies in various forms of music.
  • Music Together certification preferred, or ability to attend Music Together training
    • Monroe Street Arts Center will pay for certification for new hires with a 1 year commitment to teaching at Monroe Street Arts Center
