Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

Schedule:

  • This position is for one shift on Tuesdays only, 8:00 am to 1:30 pm.  It would also be helpful (but not required for this semester) if you can work the last three Badger Bash events at Union South on the following dates:  Saturday 10/26, Saturday 11/16, and Friday 11/29.  If you are hired and continue working through next fall, you would be required to work the Badger Bash events.

 

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $15.00 to $15.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Greet customers and answer phones 
  • Provide building information 
  •  Complete standard office tasks 
  • Maintain an orderly office 
  • Perform guest ambassador duties in the fall during Badger Bash

Qualifications:

  • Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Knowledge and experience with a windows environment and MS Office Suite 
  • Spelling, punctuation, grammar and proofing skills  
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. 
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment (copier, postal meter, etc.)
  • Prior office or Information Desk experience is desirable but not required.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check
