Department Overview:

SwimWest Swim School, and Emler Swim School affiliate, offers a proven approach to water safety. We have set the standard for swim education for baby swim lessons and toddler swim lessons to adults with a progressive curriculum that grows as they learn.

  • SwimWest Swim School - Deming Way        

Compensation: $14-16/hour

Hours per week: 15-25 hours/week

Qualifications:

As a swim instructor, you will be a part of an active, fast-paced work environment full of fun learning moments with our swimmers. A typical day will include the following responsibilities: 

  • Complete swim instructor training within the first 2-3 weeks of employment and become a certified swim instructor. 
  • Become proficient in your swim instructor role through thoughtful hands-on mentorship. 
  • Manage a class of up to four students during 30-minute swim classes. 
  • Work alongside experts to follow all safety standards keeping children, families and staff wellbeing top of mind. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing fun and engaging swim lessons and connecting and building relationships with swimmers.
  • Teach and evaluate student skills regularly, celebrating their progress in the pool. 
  • Be knowledgeable of the curriculum and other services offered at the facility to be able to resolve issues and provide a meaningful customer experience. 
  • Create a welcoming and safe environment by authentically connecting with coworkers, swimmers and their families. 
  • Work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Understand teaching and customer service goals and execute daily workload to deliver outstanding service to our families. 
  • Participate in our CARES community outreach opportunities that go beyond teaching life saving skills. 

Physical Demands

Standing and moving around in the pool and on the deck for 3-5 hours at a time and lifting children and equipment (20-30 pounds).
