Department Overview:

St. John’s is located in the heart of Madison, temporarily worshipping at 1127 University Ave.  We actively follow Jesus by serving others, building a caring community, and advocating for justice.  We are tearing down our building to build 130 units of affordable housing, plus worship and community space.  Join us on this journey.

Schedule:

Sunday mornings from 9:00am to 11:00am, with occational optional evening hours for special events.  Four paid Sundays off per year, (earned after a period of service) with ability to negotiate more unpaid Sundays off, in advance.

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $18.00 to $20.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Primary responsibility: This position is for 2 hours every Sunday morning, from 9:00am until 11:00am, to host Zoom during congregational worship and provide audio/visual assistance – with managing microphones, projecting images, and greeting and facilitating participants on Zoom so that they have a meaningful worship experience. 

Job duties include:

  • Host live Zoom worship services on Sunday mornings to facilitate worship for the approximately 1/3 of our congregation who joins online.  
  • Project images as desired on screen in-person and on Zoom
  • Greet and build relationships with each person on Zoom, so they feel acknowledged, welcome, and like valuable participants in our life together.
  • Troubleshoot occasional internet connectivity issues that impede live streaming
  • Troubleshoot and adjust microphones and volume levels for best worship experience

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience hosting and facilitating groups on Zoom (ie: screen sharing, muting & inviting to unmute, spotlighting, etc.)
  • Patience, positive, upbeat cheerful, energetic, detail-oriented, can-do, personality.
  • Solid communication skills, both in-person and online. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting experience & the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience hosting Zoom meetings in a synchronous (live/real time) hybrid setting with some participants in-person and others online. 
  • Previous experience with soundboards, mics, and AV support.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, sit, use a computer keyboard and mouse, bend, and move items - including table and chairs to arrange A/V cables, and move equipment as necessary. Ability to speak and communicate well in English verbally and in writing.
