Department Overview:
The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

Shifts will be Mon-Fri during regular office hours (8:30am - 4:30pm)

10 - 15 hours per week during semester up to 30 hours per week during summer

Hourly $15.25 to $15.25

Position Summary/Job Duties:
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical and professional experience
Design and produce art for a variety of print and digital materials including brochures, posters, signs, flyers, newspaper ads, digital signage, web page, email and social media graphics including gif animations
Work on projects for Wisconsin Union Theater, Wisconsin Union Directorate Committees (film, art, music, lectures), Wheelhouse Studios, Membership, Food Units, Outdoor UW (Hoofers), the Terrace, conferences, special events and more
Qualifications:
A working knowledge of graphic design principles and techniques
A basic understanding of typography and font usage
A working knowledge of software applications including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, & Photoshop. Ability to work within established deadlines
A passion for graphic design, excellent communication skills and a positive attitude are a must
Student Status
To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
