Position Summary/Job Duties:

About this position: This position is an hourly, in-person position. Must be able to complete shifts every Friday from 3:45pm- 6:15pm and the second Saturday of every month from 9:45am- 12:15pm. Additional hours may be available depending on the childcare needs of Rainbow Project clients throughout the week. This position reports to the Volunteer Coordinator and works in partnership with the Administrative Coordination Team as well as clinical staff to deliver childcare support to Rainbow Project clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide trauma-informed, professional & fun childcare during support groups offered at The Rainbow Project 

  • Provide trauma-informed, professional & fun childcare during client appointments as needed and if availability allows 

  • Maintain the safety and well-being of all children during childcare shifts 

  • Work alongside childcare volunteers to supervise and engage children in play and other activities 

  • Practice patience, limit-setting, and conflict resolution 

  • Effectively communicate with the child’s caregiver and/or support group facilitator/therapist as needed 

  • Adhere to confidentiality policies of The Rainbow Project, including all HIPAA-related requirements 

  • Maintain attendance records of children in group 

  • Supervise snack time for children during support groups 

  • Attend required trainings as determined by supervisor and Executive Director 

  • Record work hours and submit timesheets to Executive Director and Finance/HR Manager on bi-monthly due dates 

Qualifications:

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working or volunteering with children under the age of 11 

  • Available every Friday from 3:45pm- 6:15pm and the second Saturday of every month from 9:45am- 12:15pm 

  • Must have valid CPR and first aid certification 

  • Experience engaging with individuals and children from diverse racial, ethnic, gender, language, and developmental backgrounds 

  • Dependable, compassionate, and open to constructive feedback 

  • Inclusive, welcoming attitude to all 

  • Preference will be given to applicants with a background in psychology, social work, early childhood, or a similar field 

  • Must be able to pass the required caregiver background check in Wisconsin and any other state you have resided in within the past three years 

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit, stand, and crouch for periods of time to interact with small children. May need to hold small children (under the age of 2) for periods of time.
