Department Overview: | This job would include all training. Client needs someone to assist him with activities of daily living, to include, diapering, tube feedings, hydration program, bathing, dressing, antegrade bowel program. He may like to walk to the park or go on an excursion. He has bus tickets (Madison metro paratransit) and can travel with a caregiver. Applicant must be at least 18 years old.
Client: A very loving, hilarious, and clever 21-year-old male with autism who is non-verbal, but can communicate if he need or has the desire to communicate with others. He self entertains a great deal by rocking, playing on large yoga balls, swinging in the backyard all while watching repeating clips on YouTube. He is nonviolent and very small for his age (4'10", 110 lbs) A lover of roller coasters, rocking, YouTube, water parks, parks, amusement parks, swimming, jumping and riding in canoes, kayaks or boats.
Job Duties: The client is mobile and entertains himself, but needs assistance with personal cares (i.e. bathing, shaving, dressing, administering enemas via cecostomy tube, tube feeding via Gtube, etc.). You are welcome to incorporate therapeutic activities/adventures (biking, swimming, reading, etc.) into your work shifts. Occasional drop off/pick up from therapy required.
Wonderful position for future teachers, therapists, or health care workers. This job does include some down time in which you can do homework, read, surf the net, etc.
