Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Caregiver will assist a senior individual recovering from knee surgery by providing personal care, household support, and companionship. The primary goal is to ensure the senior's recovery is as smooth and comfortable as possible, promoting their safety, well-being, and independence during the healing process.

Personal Care Assistance: Assist with mobility (e.g., helping the senior move around, use crutches, or walk with assistance).  Help with positioning for comfort and to prevent bedsores if the individual is immobile for extended periods.

Meal Preparation: Help do prep work for meals according to dietary guidelines set by the healthcare team or physician.  

Transportation and Errands:  Help with transportation to and from follow-up doctor appointments or physical therapy sessions.
Offer reassurance and encouragement throughout the recovery process.

Household Support: Light housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a tidy living space.  Organize and ensure the home is free of hazards, making it easier and safer for the senior to move around.

Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the senior's condition, noting any changes in health or complications such as pain, swelling, or signs of infection.  Report any significant changes to the healthcare provider or family members.
 

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
Experience: Previous caregiving experience 2-5 years, particularly with seniors or post-surgery patients, is preferred.

Skills:
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow care plans and medical instructions.
Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to assist with lifting or transferring the senior when necessary.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking or helping with mobility.
Ability to drive and have their own car. Valid Driver license.

Certifications:
CPR and First Aid certification are often required or preferred.
A background check and reference check


Working Hours:
The position may require flexible hours depending on the senior’s recovery schedule. Full time help needed first week after surgery.  Part-time help (upto 30 hours). Some help might   be needed weekends or evenings.

Dependable, responsible, and able to handle potentially stressful situations calmly.
Attentive to detail and highly organized

Starting Date: May 4th

Salary Range: $22-$40 an hour
