Department Overview:
The mission of Family Support & Resource Center is to make it possible for children and youth with disabilities in Dane County to live at home with their families as valued and participating members of the community. We work in partnership with parents to enhance the care-giving capacity of families and the Dane County community. Our programs offer case management, financial assistance, information, and advocacy through services that are individualized, flexible, and designed to respond to family needs and preferences.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Mom is looking for a respite provider to hang out with her 12-year-old daughter while she participates in MMSD school board meetings as she may get bored and want to go for a walk or go to a nearby park. Kiddo needs minimal assistance with toileting (wiping after a bowel movement, pulling up/adjusting clothing, and pumping soap dispenser when not an automatic dispenser), clothing management (putting on her coat and gloves in the winter), and mobility. She uses a single point cane and a wheelchair for longer distances. Kiddo experiences seizures that are typically well managed with medication. She enjoys music, dolls, dance, matching games, and playing video games. Board meetings are held at the MMSD Doyle Building which is close to campus and accessible by bus.
Qualifications:
Position requires someone who is patient and has experience providing care to children who have special needs. Job ideal for someone studying/or has experience in Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Education, Special Education, Social Work, or another related field. Must be able to pass a background check. Parent will provide necessary training.

Assist 108lb. individual with navigating stairs (helping her to stabilize if she loses balance)
