Department Overview:

Building Great Kids was built on a foundation of our martial arts program: Martial Arts America. Over the last 40+ years, we have consistently built programs and businesses on a foundation of discipline, respect, responsibility, and hard work. In 2020, we opened our Madison East location committed to offering respite programs for children with special needs. We are an education based company, meaning we are focused and committed to helping our kids learn and grow physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and in every way possible. Our mentors are the core of our team, as they will have the opportunity to work with a variety of kids with a wide variety of needs and challenges.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Building Great Kids/TKO Enterprises is seeking compassionate, energetic individuals to join our Special Needs Summer Camp Respite Program as Mentors. This seasonal position runs Monday through Friday from June 9 to August 29, and provides a hands-on opportunity to work directly with children and young adults with special needs in a supportive and engaging environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one or one-on-two support to campers throughout the day

  • Assisting with and participating in daily activities (indoor/outdoor play, arts, games, martial arts, etc.)

  • Helping promote a safe, fun, and inclusive atmosphere

  • Communicating effectively with team members and campers

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Enthusiastic, patient, reliable, flexible, and passionate

  • Experience with or interest in working with individuals with disabilities is a plus, but not required

Physical Demands

Able to engage in active play for several hours per day.
