Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

Schedules vary week to week. Must be available Friday and Saturday for events

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Retrieving, restocking, and replenishing food and supplies
  • Prepare and present food items for buffets and meals
  • Clean and prepare work and storage areas
  • Attend to customer's food and beverage needs during a catered event 
  • Set up and take down serving lines, tables, or portable units 
  • Clean, slice, and season ingredients
  • Help prepare for the next day's production
  • Assist permanent food service staff with preparing a variety of hot and cold foods (i.e. salads, sandwiches, appetizers, baked goods, pre-dishing meals, etc) 
    • Please note, meat is served in this position but accomodations can be made for those with specific needs or preferences

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the success of the Wisconsin Union.
  • Promote respect and practice civility in the workplace.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and push or pull 100 pound carts.
  • Follow all safety procedures and attend required health, safety and security trainings
