Department Overview:
The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.
Department Overview: The RSO Print & Resource Center (PRC) is a self-service, non-profit print and resource center within the Office for Student Organization, Leadership & Involvement (SOLI) and is located on the 3rd Floor (suite 3303) in the Student Activity Center. The PRC supports RSOs and students offering enhanced print options, use of facilities and equipment, and additional supplies and resources for purchase and/or rent.
The PRC is tailored to students’ needs and is committed to keeping our offering inclusive and efficient for customers to utilize. Working for and using the PRC accomplishes both personal and professional goals as all learn, create, and grow.

Hours – During the fall and spring semesters, you will be expected to work between 8-11 hours per week Schedules are created around your class schedules and are set for the semester Finals week schedules are created separately and are based on your finals schedule

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Technologist Intern will:
Learn about and manage a variety of small business practices and projects.
Help innovate and implement decisions that impact customers’ workflow.
Support the maintenance of diverse printing equipment, workstations, supplies, and resources.
Explore new technology solutions that benefit the center and its customers.
Engage with project teams within SOLI to promote PRC programming and services.
Promoting PRC and its events using Marketing and Outreach tools.
Provide customer support in PRC during Office Hours and lead workshops.
Create detailed documentation about equipment usage to improve customer experience at PRC.
Learn to use the following equipment and software.
Previous knowledge of the following is appreciated but not required.

Software
Canva (highly recommended) Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Adobe Acrobat
Transact Point of Sales system
Google (Drive, Analytics, Suite -docs, sheets, slides)
Microsoft – Word, Excel
Qualifications:
Technical Qualifications:
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Comfortable troubleshooting basic software/hardware issues such as software installation, new PC setup, etc.
Willing to take part in website development and maintenance.
WiscWeb experience and HTML/CSS knowledge is a plus, but not required.
Familiarity with Adobe CC is a plus, but not required.
Other Qualifications:

Work Study not required, but appreciated
This position will begin training in November and will be active throughout the academic year.
The PRC is open during regular SAC hours and is closed during Winter Break and Spring Break.

Student Status
To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment.
