Schedule:
This position is well suited for a graduate student with laboratory experience who wants occasional, paid, hands-on lab experience that can fit around academic or other commitments. The work may involve several hours in a given week followed by weeks with no scheduled hours, depending on the company’s needs and the lab tech’s schedule. Total time is expected to average approximately 15-20 hours per month. The position requires in-person support during daytime working hours.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
SpayVac for Wildlife Inc ., a biotech company in Madison, Wisconsin developing immunocontraceptive vaccines for animals, is seeking a part-time laboratory technician to provide intermittent support. This position is well suited for a graduate student with laboratory experience who wants occasional, paid, hands-on lab experience that can fit around academic or other commitments. The work may involve several hours in a given week followed by weeks with no scheduled hours, depending on the company’s needs and the lab tech’s schedule. Total time is expected to average approximately 15-20 hours per month. The position requires in-person support during daytime working hours.
Responsibilities include:
Performing and assisting with ELISA, Western blot, and BCA protein assays
Carrying out defined laboratory procedures according to established protocols, under supervision
Preparing samples, buffers, and reagents
Assisting with routine lab tasks
Maintaining lab organization and supplies
Recording procedures and results as directed
Learning and following production SOPs and accompanying documentation
Isolating membrane proteins from tissue
Qualifications:
Experience working in a lab setting
Experience running ELISA, Western blot, and BCA protein assays independently
Coursework or experience in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, veterinary sciences, or a related field
Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable with flexible scheduling
