At Classmates Literacy Foundation, we believe literacy is a basic human right through which every child can realize their full potential.
Classmates Literacy Foundation (CLF), a Madison-based nonprofit, is dedicated to closing literacy gaps in under-resourced schools, where children from low-income households, multilingual families, communities of color, and students with disabilities are disproportionately affected by low literacy rates. We remove financial and access barriers so teachers can be trained in Orton-Gillingham structured literacy, a proven multisensory approach to instruction that is the best approach for all students learning to read but critical for struggling readers, including those with dyslexia. By removing financial barriers to high-quality professional development, we expand access to evidence-based training empowering teachers with the knowledge and skills to meet the diverse needs of every student in their classroom.
