Position Summary/Job Duties:

Seeking kind, dependable care for a gentleman in his 50's recovering from a stroke post aortic debranching surgery in December.  He currently works with PT, OT, SLP and Feldenkrais.  He is making progress regaining strength on his left side, and we know this could be accelerated with additional support.  20 hours per week is desired.  We would love a set schedule but can be flexible for the right individual and if 20 hours a week is too much, we are willing to split the schedule with another individual.

The start date is flexible, but ideally as soon as possible.  He is having another surgery on his aorta May 29th so a 1-to-2 week break in services would follow unless you were interested in helping around the house during that time.

Role & Responsibilities: work through outlined exercise plan provided by PT, OT, SLP and assist with transfers and some ADLs.  Training will be provided.  There is the possibility of taking to therapy appointments if needed.  If complete, mileage would be reimbursed or a car would be provided.

We live on the near west side of Madison, not far from Hilldale, and are on a bus line.  We have a 6yo daughter and another child on the way so additional support would be greatly welcomed.  We also have a friendly dog and cat.  We are looking for summer help that in a perfect world would continue into fall and are willing to adjust schedules as needed.

Physical Demands

wheelchair pivot transfer; walker and cane with assistance - training provided
