Schedule:

Hours

  • A Residence Hall Advisory Board (RHAB) Member works 3-5 hours per week. 
  • Monthly meetings with University Housing Senior Leadership.
  • Monthly meetings with ASM (Associated Students of Madison) representative.
  • Scheduling is flexible and based on academic availability and operational need.
  • Attendance at a 2-hour weekly staff meeting is required.  Staff meetings are scheduled with your supervisor and staff team around academic commitments only.

 

Additional Scheduling Notes

The Residence Hall Advisory Board role has many important responsibilities, including but not limited to: building rapport with unit staff (Residence Life Coordinator, House Fellows, Facilities, etc.), developing student surveys, providing feedback on your experience in the residence halls (specifically where you live), and assisting Housing leadership with reviewing new initiatives.

Strong candidates will have flexibility with their semester scheduling, show exceptional attention to administrative tasks, work autonomously, and engage with residents and other Housing staff.

Though you will be compensated for your efforts, please note that RHAB members may average approximately three to five hours weekly.

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $15.00 to $15.00

Position Summary

The Residence Hall Advisory Board (RHAB) Member is a student leadership position that presents suggestions, concerns, praises, and ideas of the larger campus community to the Director of University Housing and other senior leadership members. The RHAB exists to enhance the voice of residents by working directly with University Housing leadership. RHAB members are to gather relevant feedback to better serve our residents and influence decisions made by University Housing leadership. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly meetings with University Housing leadership.
  • Advocate for the residents of their unit.
  • Host unit town halls as needed (these typically occur monthly.
  • Meet with unit leadership team and student staff as needed.
  • Staff feedback tables as needed (these typically occur monthly).
  • Attend weekly staff meetings with board members and advisor 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a resident of the building/unit they are representing. 
  • During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations. 
  • Satisfactory results of a confidential criminal background check are required.
