Department Overview:

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses. 

As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

Program Description: 

MSCR Sports Programming aims to inspire the community to lead active, healthy lives by connecting each other through community leagues, classes and wellness activities.  Our preschool programming focuses on creating a safe & supportive environment where kids can grow their self-esteem while building social and motor skills.

Job Description & Duties: 

Pre-K Sports Instructors are expected to plan and lead a group of Pre-K & elementary-aged participants in youth sports classes with the goal of teaching skills and fundamentals of various sports. Examples of sports classes offered by MSCR include soccer skills, tennis, basketball, t-ball, volleyball, and more.
The emphasis is on skill building, fun, fitness, making new friends, sportsmanship and learning the sport. As a Youth Sports Instructor, you are responsible for promoting this atmosphere while keeping play safe and engaging.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to design plans that engage and experience working with preschool-aged children and their caretakers.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Reliability & dependability.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, where your lesson plans can change quickly to meet the needs of the participants.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Early education experience (classwork, professional) and lesson/programming experience
