Position Summary/Job Duties:

Lab Operations Support Specialist (Part-Time)

About the Role:

Immuto Scientific is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Lab Operations Support Specialist to help keep our lab running smoothly. This is a part-time, hands-on role focused on inventory and ordering, reagent/stock preparation, and general lab maintenance. It's a great fit for someone with hands-on lab experience who enjoys staying organized and wants flexibility in their schedule.

This position requires regular, recurring days in the office each week. The specific days and hours are flexible and can be worked out based on your availability and our lab's needs, for a total of 10–20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Ordering and Inventory

  • Check designated inventory items each week to identify supplies that are running low
  • Maintain and update our standard order sheet, and help assemble orders for additional supplies as needed
  • Generate purchase orders (POs) for orders that exceed the standard purchasing limit
  • Keep general lab inventory organized, labeled, and easy to locate

Stock and Reagent Preparation

  • Prepare and replenish common lab stock solutions and reagents

Lab Maintenance

  • Perform routine lab cleaning
  • Monitor and maintain lab freezers (organization, defrosting/temperature checks, and general upkeep)

Growth Opportunities

This role has room to grow. As you get comfortable with the core responsibilities, there are opportunities to take on additional lab experimental prep work, such as buffer exchange and BCA assays.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Hands-on experience working in a biology or chemistry laboratory (academic, research, or industry setting)
  • Comfort following standard lab safety practices and handling lab chemicals/reagents appropriately
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment, while knowing when to escalate questions
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office/Google Workspace) for tracking inventory and orders
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Coursework or a degree in a life sciences field (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related)
  • Prior experience with lab inventory or ordering systems
  • Familiarity with general lab equipment and freezer/cold-storage management

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry supply shipments (up to approximately 25–30 lbs)
  • Ability to stand, bend, and move around the lab for extended periods
  • Comfort wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, lab coats, and safety glasses
