Department Overview:

The Center for South Asia at UW-Madison is an outreach resource center providing expertise on South Asia to K-12 students, educators, and the public through lectures, library programming, and workshops. In addition, CSA hosts the Annual Conference on South Asia (ACSA) and the South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI), and we academically administer both FLAS awards and a BA certificate in South Asian Studies. Qualifications:

Applicants must be current UW students. Preferred candidates will have experience working in a university office setting or in event support.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic knowledge of Word Press and Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Office programs required. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of Word Press and Video Editing. Ideal candidate will have experience working in tech support and using design programs.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Student Assistant duties include:
-Provide logistical support for summer events such as room and food set up/clean up, coordinating food deliveries, managing and recording hybrid meetings, assisting guest speakers with technology etc. Will involve at least one Saturday shift.
-Collate receipts, attendance records, and publicity materials for weekly Center expenditures
-Work under the Associate Director to prepare and update data for annual reporting
-Work under the Associate Director in grant preparations and donor database tasks
-Work under the Associate Director in compiling Fall newsletter
-Work under the Associate Director in preparing Fall committee materials
-Work under the Assistant Director to coordinate logistics for committee meetings
-Provide event support for virtual educator training workshops as assigned
-Other clerical/office duties as assigned

Ability to continue into a fall appointment is contingent upon performance and hours available. Applicants must be students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Knowledge of South Asia is preferred, but not essential. The job requires a commitment of 15-20 hours per week.

Physical Demands:

Event logistical support includes moving equipment and event supplies between locations. Occasional heavy lifting required (30-40lbs maximum).
