Department Overview:

CAE offers an enriching, inclusive community to approximately 150 new 1st-year students each year. CAE programming also includes holistic academic advising, academic coaching, peer mentoring, graduate school and career preparation, and access to other L&S learning communities that facilitate connection and collaboration. In addition to the cohort program, CAE is also home to the Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE) and the L&S STEM Scholars Initiative.

• Be available to teach throughout fall 2024 (September 4 – December 11) during the following:
o Monday, 2:30pm – 3:45pm
o Tuesday, 4pm – 5:15pm
o Thursday, 1pm -2:15pm

$8,011.28

$47,727 (full-time rate)

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to articulate learning goals and outcomes and assess student performance
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with undergraduate students, including undergraduate students from communities underrepresented in higher education
• Be an enrolled graduate student in higher education administration, educational philosophy, student services or a related field; completion of a master’s degree or equivalent graduate course work is required
• Be available to teach throughout fall 2024 (September 4 – December 11) during the following:
o Monday, 2:30pm – 3:45pm
o Tuesday, 4pm – 5:15pm
o Thursday, 1pm -2:15pm

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience serving students from underrepresented backgrounds and have a commitment to fostering an inclusive and safe learning community
• Demonstrated ability to articulate learning goals and outcomes and assess student performance
• Experience creating and delivering academic content and strategies to support student success
• Experience teaching, mentoring, advising, or coaching undergraduates
• Enthusiasm for creating student-centered, interactive, and engaging lessons and activities
• Strong and dynamic presentation and instruction skills

Position Summary/Job Duties:

• Provide classroom instruction and student feedback, including grading, in accordance with course syllabus
• Create and facilitate dynamic classroom activities to support student learning and achievement
• Maintain a Canvas course associated with the CAE sections of the course
• Work closely with staff in CAE and CCAS to learn course content, pedagogy, and philosophy and to ensure course learning objectives are met
