Department Overview:
Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more! During the school year, MSCR offers Afterschool and Enrichment Programs at 15 MMSD Schools. Many of these sites have been awarded Community Learning Center (CLC) grants through the Federal Government. These programs offer curriculum to help support the students who need extra support in math and/or literacy.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Soccer playing background with experience in youth leadership. Preferred Qualifications: Understand and communicate the rules of soccer. Ability to stand and run for long periods of time. Referee / Coaching certification is NOT required.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
As a Youth Soccer Referee/Instructor, you are responsible for promoting a positive, engaging and safe playing experience for youth. Our indoor instructional classes are for beginner players to learn the sport and improve their mobility, balance and other skills Classes consist of a 30 minutes of instruction followed by small-sided games Youth Soccer Instructors are expected to lead a group of 8-10 Pre-School-Elementary Aged participants in instruction and small-sided games. The emphasis is on skill building, fun, fitness, making new friends, sportsmanship and learning the sport. During our Outdoor Seasons (Spring, Summer & Fall), referees help facilitate 3v3 & 6v6 Youth Soccer games on the weekends. Locations: Various MMSD Elementary & Middle Schools on the East/North Side & Westside
