Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Historical Society connects people to the past by collecting, preserving, and sharing stories. The Education team operates the History Maker Space interactive classroom on Capitol Square, engaging over 10,000 Wisconsin students each year, as well as supporting education across the Museum and Historic Sites division and virtual learning experiences.

Flexible scheduling available! Work can be scheduled between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Mix of remote and in-office work possible.

Qualifications:

Candidates should enjoy working with a team in an office environment. Candidates should have an interest in PK-12 education and an ability to community clearly and comfortably with teachers and educators. Candidates must be comfortable using computers, have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Additionally, ideal candidates have experience or study in the fields of history, education, or museums.

Work study is required for this position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-Great organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects at once to meet deadlines.
-Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to listen carefully to the needs and requests of teachers looking to schedule a program.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office
-Very comfortable using technology and communicating via digital platforms (Outlook, Teams, etc.)
-Ability to work independently without close supervision as well as part of a team.
-High attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions and learn new skills
-Ability to be punctual and dependable

Position Summary/Job Duties:

1. Communicate with PK-12 teachers and educators from across Wisconsin to coordinate and schedule field trips, virtual programs, and/or other educational experiences with the Wisconsin Historical Society.
2. Track and maintain PK-12 bookings and information using Asana and ACME platforms.
3. Communicate with WHS Education team to convey scheduling information and special accommodations for booked programs.
4. Assist with the creation and coordination of materials used in PK-12 educational experiences.
5. Compile evaluation data, collected through surveys and other methods.
6. Collaborate with WHS Education team to review and create existing and new PK-12 educational experiences.

Physical Demands:

Job requires ability to sit/work at a computer terminal for several hours at a time.
