Department Overview:

The UW-Madison Institute on Aging is a hub of cutting-edge research on health and well-being as individuals travel across the decades of adult life. We look outward to broad influences of class, culture, and race/ethnicity as well as inward to fine-grained influences of biology, genetics, and neuroscience. Between these two, we examine proximal influences from work and family life, personal thoughts and feelings, and health practices and behaviors. Collectively, our work:
o Emphasizes the potential and strengths of individuals as they age
o Improves understanding of pathways to disease and impairments of growing older
o Advances knowledge of resilience in the face of challenge and adversity.

Qualifications:

Must be a current UW–Madison undergraduate student and have experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
Must be available for work in the summer.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Attention to detail, an aptitude for problem solving, and confidentiality are key qualities for this position. Applicants must be reliable, task oriented, and independent once familiar with job responsibilities. Helpful abilities include a strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to: coverage in reception area; scanning administrative files; organizing digital information and paper files; creating inventories for supplies; providing assistance at departmental events; data entry, including special data entry projects; assistance with processing mailing returns by tracing contact information and entering the new information into the database; and other support tasks as needed.

Physical Demands:

Lifting, carrying, moving boxes; ability to efficiently complete campus errands between various locations.
