Department Overview:
The cereal breeding and Quantitative Genetics is a leading group in genomics of plants, with an emphasis on understanding plant interactions with their environment. The group runs the UW's oat and wheat breeding programs.

Undergraduate student
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Responsibility, attention to detail and concentration, commitment, and good communication skills. Be able to work in a team or independently. For students interested in biology, with plant science, genetics, cereals, crops, and agronomy, this is an exciting opportunity to learn and experience experimental research, cereal crops, and plant breeding. Moreover, this position provides a platform for personal growth and development, allowing you to expand your knowledge and skills in a dynamic research environment.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The work includes: Speed breeding study. Post-harvest activities such as seed threshing, cleaning, weight, inventory and storing. Note taking in greenhouse experiments. Experiment preparation for next season: seed prep, plots organization, and field supplies. Greenhouse work: plant, water, grow, sample, and harvest plants.
Physical Demands:
The work includes greenhouse and indoor activities. It is required to lift seed boxes.
